Beryl I. “The Notary” Smith, 87, of Hepburn Twp., died Oct. 13, 2018 at her daughter’s residence.
She was born Aug. 29, 1931, in Wellsboro, a daughter of the late Alvin and Mabel (Duffy) Alexander.
Beryl retired as notary in Hepburn Twp., was a member of Church of Nazarene, enjoyed square dancing, enjoyed cooking, and serving family and customers.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, Earl E. Smith, Sr.; a son, John A. Smith; a daughter, Irene M. Clopton; a grandson, Martin Swisher, and a great-great-grandson, Skylear. She was the last survivor of eight siblings.
Surviving are two sons, Earl E., Jr. (Pam) Smith and Robert K. Smith; two daughters, Charlene A. (Charles) Plank and Ellen L. (Mike) Stabler; a brother-in-law, George Edwards; 17 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville with Rev. Louis N. Gatti officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
