Betty L. Johnston, 96, of Hepburn Township, passed away on June 7, 2019 at her residence.
She was born in Hepburn Township on January 13, 1923, the daughter of the late Howard and Ida (Shafer) Beach.
Betty was a waitress at the former Bair’s Truck Stop, and had worked at the former GTE Sylvania during WWII. She was also a member of the Lycoming County Centre Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Bloomingrove Historical Society and of the PA colony Historical society of Nebraska, and a past associate member of the Hepburn Township Fire Company.
She was preceded in death her husband, Forrest; two sisters, Jean Green and Bonnie Rank; two brothers, Elwood and William Beach; and son-in-law, Raymond McGavin.
Betty is survived by her son, Forrest J. (Diann) Johnston; three daughters, Jean J. McGavin, Marybeth J. (James) Carpenter, and Jill J. (David) Kilburn; eight grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Bloomingrove Dunkard Church, 297 Dunkard Church Road, Cogan Station with Rev. Larry K. Waltz officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
