Geraldine M. Scheurer

1923 ~ 2019 (age 95)

Geraldine Scheurer, 95, of Montoursville, PA entered into the glories of heaven on May 2, 2019, and is now with her Lord and Savior. She resided at UPMC Susquehanna/Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Williamsport to George and Mildred (Winner) Pidcoe on September 6, 1923. She was the eldest of seven children.

On June 28, 1946, she married Donald Larue Scheurer. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1986.

She is survived by her daughter Jeannette of Montoursville. Her survivors also include two brothers, David Pidcoe, Fawn Grove, PA, and Calvin (Donna) Pidcoe, Watsontown, PA. Also surviving is one sister, Leona (Stanley) Harms, New Castle, OK. She was preceded in death by her brother Glynn Pidcoe, and sisters June Pidcoe and Margaret Pidcoe.

She graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1940 at the age of 16.

As a young adult, Gerry asked Jesus Christ to be her Savior. She lived a consistent Christian life never wavering from her faith in Him. She was a member of Lycoming Valley Bapist Church since 1982 and took an active part in the church as long as she was able. She thoroughly enjoyed singing soprano in the choir and participated in many Easter and Christmas cantatas.

She had a great passion for teaching children the Bible, and teach she did. She taught Sunday school, junior church, vacation bible school, and for many years was a teacher of Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Clubs and their day camps. While living in Williamsport, she would board two city buses and travel to Montoursville (in all kinds of weather) to teach her weekly Good News Club.

Gerry’s celebration of life will begin with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on May 7, at Lycoming Valley Baptist Church. Her pastor, Jack Delaney will conduct the funeral service at 10:30 p.m. Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Lycoming County, 460 Market Street, Suite 214, Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.

Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.” (NIV) submitted by her daughter.
