James J. Gehret, 80, of Loyalsock Township, died December 11, 2019, at The Gatehouse.
He was born February 22, 1939, in Williamsport, a son of the late Reginald J. and Helen L. (McKeown) Gehret.
Jim was a graduate of Williamsport Area High School in 1957 and afterwards served in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard the USS WASP. He went to helicopter school in Rhode Island and was stationed at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland.
He retired from the former GTE Sylvania and from Truck-Lite Co. of McElhattan. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was an avid golfer and bowler.
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was a son, Steven J. Gehret, an infant son, and a brother, Reginald R. Gehret.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Nancy L. Cillo; a daughter, Shelley L. (Timothy) Sechler, of Kensington, Maryland; a brother, Donald D. (Ann) Gehret, of Williamsport; two sisters, Mary M. “Peg” (Robert) Quigley, of Williamsport and Honora “Nori” (Vern) Dorsey, of West Virginia; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Isabella, Emily, and Keita Sechler.
A Mass of Christian of Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 14, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut Street, Montoursville, with Rev. Michael S. McCormick as celebrant. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville.
