Joan R. Yost

February 11, 1934 ~ February 20, 2019 (age 85)

Joan R. Yost, of Williamsport, is now safe in the arms of Jesus, who became her Lord and Savior, April 4, 1951.  She passed away peacefully February 20, 2019.

She was born, in Jeannette, February 11, 1934, the daughter of the late Leon and Elizabeth Farroux.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John L. Yost; brothers, Will H. and wife, Dorothy, Robert E. and wife, Shirley, and Leon J. and wife, Faye; and several nieces and nephews.

Surviving are a sister, Elizabeth Tarango; a brother, Richard Farroux; two sons, John H. (Betsy), and Philip (Cheryl); and four granddaughters, Katelyn Yost, Ellen Yost, Julia (Levi) Lilley, and Melody (Scott) Reed, whom she dearly loved and spent many happy moments with them, especially as they were growing up.  Her pets, Mindy Sue and Bella Joy, gave her much enjoyment and companionship.

She graduated from Robert Wesleyan College, North Chili, NY, majoring in English, she received a B.A. degree, in 1959.

In 1959, she married John L. Yost, who passed Nov. 2, 2007.  They were married 48 years.

She taught at Nisbet Elementary School, South Williamsport, fourth grade class from 1959 to 1962.  She later substituted in the elementary grades, in Williamsport and South Williamsport schools.

She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, loving to sing in the choir.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family, at Green Lawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Joel Long officiating.

Contributions in Joan’s memory will gracefully be received, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 911 West Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701, or Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.

Beyond earth’s sorrows, the joys of heaven; Eternal blessings with Christ my Lord; Earth’s weeping ended, earth’s trials over, sweet Rest in Jesus, O blest reward! Gilmore to God be the Glory!
