Lena M. Strayer, 92, of Montoursville, died Mar. 1, 2019, at the Gatehouse.
She was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Passaic, NJ, a daughter of the late Frank and Carmella (Gargone) Minnella.
Lena retired from the former Lycoming Braided Works and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she did volunteer work and sang in the choir. She was a Faxon Lanes league bowler and was recognized as a golden age bowler in 2012. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and playing the guitar.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were two daughters, Maria Ferguson and Anne Secreti; and a brother, Joseph Minnella.
Surviving are her husband, of 72 years Richard A. Strayer; two daughters, Carmella L. Plage, of Conyers, GA and Christine J. (Walter) DeGarmo, of South Williamsport; four brothers, James Lorenzo, of Harwood Heights, IL, Mario Minnella, of Maryland, Salvatore (Julia) Minnella, of Montoursville, and Frank, Jr (Jane) Minnella, of Williamsport; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson on the way.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 7, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut Street, Montoursville, with Rev. Michael S. McCormick as celebrant. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
A viewing for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Mar. 6, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville.
