Michael Stefanick, 94, of 389 East Central Avenue, South Williamsport, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Ravine Ridge, Williamsport Home.
Michael was born on July 27, 1924 in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania to John and Olga Zuk Stefanick.
After graduating from Mount Carmel High School in 1942, Michael enlisted in the United States Army, serving with the rank of Sergeant as a Telephone and Telegraph Lineman from 1943 through 1945 in the European theatre of World War II. Following his time in the service, Michael bought a home in South Williamsport, where he lived for nearly 70 years. Michael worked for Stroehmann Brothers Company for 35 years and Weis Markets for 10 years. Michael was a founding member of Holy Cross Orthodox Church, where he was a parishioner throughout his life. Michael was married to the late Julia Kravetz Stefanick, who preceded him in death in 2005, for 57 years.
Michael’s survivors include his daughter, Yvonne Bohlander of Dallas, PA, his grandson, Nathan Bohlander, of Philadelphia, PA, his goddaughters, Sandra Tosca and Valerie Winnick, of Williamsport, PA and West Chester, PA, respectively, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Cross Lane, Williamsport, PA 17701, with Reverend Seraphim Reynolds officiating. Interment will be held in St. Michael’s Orthodox Cemetery in Mt. Carmel Township, Northumberland County, PA. Friends will be received from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, PA, with a Parastas service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Cross Orthodox Church.
