Sandra S. Kurtz

November 27, 1942 ~ January 17, 2019 (age 76)

It is with great sorrow the family of Sandra S. Kurtz wants to announce her passing peacefully on January 17, 2019 at 11:15 p.m. from this life into the presence of her Heavenly Father.

Sandra was born on November 27, 1942, in Centerville, Ill., to Chester and Virginia Walk.

Sandra and her family moved to Montoursville from St. Louis, MO, when she was 6 years old.  Sandra attended the Montoursville Area School District where she met her future husband, Eugene L. Kurtz.  She was always involved in her two sons’ extracurricular activities, and in later years Sandra gave the same loving support to her five grandchildren. Sandra’s generosity and positive outlook on life are two qualities that she was known for within her family and community.

Sandra was employed by GTE Sylvania for over 15 years, worked in the Montoursville Area School District as a reading aide and in food service.  Prior to her passing, she was employed by the Montoursville Presbyterian Church.

Her joys in life were with her family and their activities, taking day trips with her husband and close friends, spending time with her “coffee club ladies” and spoiling her grandchildren.

Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Eugene L. Kurtz, along with her two sons, Craig M. Kurtz (Rhonda), Kevin A. Kurtz (Allyson). She also is survived by five grandchildren, Jourdan, Zachary, Carissa, Lydia and Shelby along with many nieces and nephews.

Sandra was one of six siblings and is survived by her sisters, Yvonne Sapp, of Long Island NY, and Barbara Hall, of Allentown Pa. She was preceded by her parents Chester and Virginia Walk, sister Marcella Flamme, of St Louis,MO, and brothers Danny and Gary Walk, of Montoursville, Pa.

Sandra and Eugene were married January 7, 1961, at the Montoursville Presbyterian Church.  They were inseparable from the first time they met until her passing into eternity.

Sandra will be fondly missed by all the friends and families that she touched while on this Earth.

Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, with visitation on Jan. 26, 2019 from 10 to 11a.m., at the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm Street. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with a lunch to follow in the social hall as a celebration of Sandra’s life.  Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sandra’s name to the Geisinger Medical Center, Donald P. Vrabec House of Care Danville, PA 17822.
