Mr. Thomas P. Weakland, 73, of Montoursville, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019 at his home. Thomas was born September 28, 1946, raised in Coalport, PA, Clearfield Co., the son of the late Philip and Helen Weakland.
Thomas was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Republic of Vietnam Conflict. He served as a SP4 1966-1967 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, two overseas service bars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104 at Montoursville.
Thomas was a member of the graduating class of the B.C.I. High School, Coalport, PA and the class of 1969 Williamsport Community College, carpentry and building construction. Thomas had been employed as a job Superintendent for Lundy Construction Co., Williamsport. He had 41 years of service with the company.
Thomas was a member of the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, Montoursville. Thomas had been an active member of the Monroeton Gun Club since 1988. He served on their Board of Directors. He served on the Carpentry/Building Construction Advisory Board of Penn College and the Board of Trustees of Faith United Methodist Church, Montoursville. He had been active with Troop 21 Boy Scouts and AYSO soccer. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and boating. Thomas was a loving and caring son, husband, father, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a loyal, honest, hardworking man with a great sense of humor who brought much happiness to all who knew him.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Veronica Ninosky Weakland, at home and his son, Matthew Scott Weakland of Montoursville.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St. Montoursville with Rev. David C. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery with Military honors accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. Friends will be received Thursday morning from 10 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.
