Bernice Musto, late of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, left this world to meet the Lord on March 25,2022.
Born Bernice Lillian Basile on August 7, 1928, in Newark, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Clement C. Basile and Josephine C. Bufano Basile.
Bernice was married to Carmine A. Musto. Bernice and Carmine raised their family in central New Jersey. They then moved to Dunnellon, Florida, where Carmine deceased in 1991. After Carmine deceased Bernice moved to Williamsport. She was a resident of Williamsport North Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at the time of her decease.
Bernice is survived by her five children, Joseph Musto of Loyalsock Township, PA, Michelle Murphy of Parlin, N.J., Albert Musto of Quakertown, PA, Carmen Fister of Upper Black Eddy, PA, and Michael Musto of Eldred Township, PA.
Bernice and Carmine had eleven grandchildren, one of whom tragically predeceased Bernice. In her later years Bernice told family members of occasional visits by her grandson who had predeceased her. In those visits her grandson comforted her and assured her that all will be well when she joins him and Carmine in heaven.
Bernice is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, and by her brother Phillip Basile of Florida and by his two children.
Bernice enjoyed helping others. While she lived in New Jersey, Bernice served as a volunteer leading aerobics classes and art classes. One of the classes which she led was featured on local television. Bernice was active in her local Italian American Club. Bernice served as a volunteer at the Williamsport Hospital and as an usher at the Community Arts Center. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. When healthy she never missed Sunday mass. She assisted the church in various functions.
Bernice was noted for her devotion to family, her sharp wit and for her sense of humor.
No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
Those who wish to offer something in remembrance of Bernice are encouraged to make a contribution to St. Anne’s Church, The Gatehouse, or to such charitable organization as they deem worthy.
