Corenne V. (Reeder) Guthrie

February 23, 1937 ~ January 9, 2021 (age 83)


Corenne V. Reeder Guthrie, 83, formerly of Montoursville, died Saturday, January 9, Embassy of Loyalsock, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was born Feb. 23, 1937, in Huntersville, to the late Raymond and Rachael (Young) Reeder.  Corenne was a 1955 graduate of Williamsport High School.

On July 2, 1955, she married the love of her life, Robert L. Guthrie with whom she enjoyed over 58 years until his death March 1, 2014.  She worked briefly after marriage at the former Weldon Pajama Factory before becoming a homemaker.

Corenne loved flowers, especially roses.  She also was a big fan of television soap operas, watching classic movie musicals on TV, Elvis Presley, decorative snowmen, filling her home with country décor, and animals.

Surviving are two sons, Marc (Victoria), of Montoursville and Jason (Charity), of Warriors Mark; two grandchildren, Sara (Zachery) Bender, of Williamsport and Brian (Katelyn) Guthrie, of Manassas, Virginia; and one great-grandson, Lincoln Robert Bender.

Also surviving is a sister, Judy (George) Wilson, of Williamsport; sister-in-law, Mary Guthrie, of Williamsport; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Shirley Guthrie, of Williamsport; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was preceded in death by brother-in-law Irvin (Mary) Guthrie.

Due to Covid-19, a public memorial service will be held at a later date.  Burial will be held privately in Montoursville Cemetery.
