Debra Lee Schon Minnier, 65, of Montoursville, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2020 at her home.
She was born January 28, 1955 in Williamsport, to Floyd K. Schon and Joan Renninger Schon (Merrifield). She is survived by her mother, step-father, Terry Merrifield, and sisters, Diane (Scot) Dunlap and Dawn (Harry) Blanchard. She graduated from Montoursville High School and studied accounting at Williamsport Area Community College.
For four decades Debra worked for the American Legions in Montoursville and Muncy and was a member of the Legions’ Auxiliaries. She also belonged to Women of the Moose and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. As a prominent figure in the community, many came to Debra for help when they didn’t know what to do. Quietly she went about directing people to resources, introducing people who needed one another’s area of expertise and speaking for those who could not speak for themselves.
Debra was married to the late Robert Minnier on August 27, 1988. She is survived by four stepchildren and their spouses. Crystal L. Minnier of Williamsport, Melinda M. (Robert) LeVan of Williamsport, Michael C. (Beth) Minnier of Williamsport and Matthew C. (John) Minnier of Virginia. She also enjoyed 6 grandchildren, Zachary Minnier, Nicholas Minnier, Alex LeVan, Breanna Minnier, Madison Minnier, and Madeline Minnier and all her many nieces and nephews.
A Life Celebration will be held Saturday, October 10, 11 am – 2 pm at the Muncy American Legion Post #268, 515 Legion Road, Muncy, PA 17756 with services at 11:30 am with the Rev. Dr. H. Russell Blanchard, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Montoursville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Debra’s name may be made to American Legion Post #268 to help veterans with PTSD.
