Doris was a member of the First Christian Church of Montoursville, Newberry Church of Christ, Cogan Station Christian Church, and Balls Mills United Methodist Churches respectively. She loved her family and spending time with them especially her grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed camping with her family, traveling, reading, she was very active in her church music ministries and was the church’s organist and pianist and enjoyed singing and playing for and establishing several gospel quartets and singing groups through the years, including her children, sisters and brothers who were all musically inclined.

She lived with her husband, the late Harold B. Bower on a farm in Cogan Station and enjoyed all the attributes of being a farm wife. She was a fabulous cook and loved to have dinner parties for her family and friends. She and Harold were married for 64 years.

Surviving are her children, Harlan W. (Patricia) of Trout Run, Randell G. (Daun) of Trout Run, Jodi B. (George) Wolfe of Montoursville, and Lynnae I. (Robert) Witmer of Williamsport; two brothers, Milan (Jean) Knopp, and Leon (Judy) Knopp of Muncy; and sister-in-law, Florence. She was “Grammy” to 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph; and two sisters, Valeria (James) Holmes and Donna (Lee) Freeman.

Doris was a prayer warrior and lived her faith and was a true believer in Jesus Christ and made sure all her children were as well. Her influence on all of us will endure forever and her family will truly miss her. Her family would like to thank all those involved at The Gatehouse for their wonderful care of their mother.
