Doris H. O’ Connor, 90, of Montoursville, passed away August 24, 2020, at her residence.
She was born May 7, 1930, in Trebbin, Germany, a daughter of the late Ernest and Hilda (Mueller) Hille, coming to the United States with her parents at the age of six months.
Doris graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1948, and from 1948-1951 she worked at Grit Publishing Co. Afterwards, she joined her parents in the family business, E. Hille The Angler’s Supply House. After his discharge from the Navy, her husband, Charles (Bill) O’ Connor also joined the business. They assumed ownership of the family business after her parent’s retirement until their retirement.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlework, and doing crafts with her daughter. She was a former member of Faith United Methodist Church and its former Friendship Group. She was a member of Penn Laurel Chapter of the American Business Women for 27 years, serving in all offices and chaired all committees, she was elected Woman of the Year in 1983. She enjoyed playing cards with the same group for over 30 years, she had monthly meetings with former Grit girls and was a Cub Scout Troop 21 Leader.
Surviving in addition to her husband, her children, Charles E. (Chuck) and Mary O’ Connor, of Clarksville, TN, and Karen and William Werkheiser of Kunkletown; grandchildren, Cheyanne Werkheiser, Keith and Nicole Hamm; and great-grandson, Jayden Hamm.
There will be a private memorial service for family and the family will provide flowers.
