Dorothy E. Maneval Spitler Johnson, 92, of Williamsport, PA, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at The Williamsport Home.
She was born on November 16, 1928, the eldest of four daughters of Prosper and Leona (Hunsinger) Maneval.
Dot grew up in South Williamsport and graduated from South Williamsport High School in 1946. She married Glenn D. Spitler on June 5, 1947, and they raised two sons together until Glenn’s death in 1985. Dot retired from the Williamsport Hospital after many years of service.
In 1995, Dot became reacquainted with Robert Johnson, a widower and fellow graduate of South Williamsport High, and they married in 1996. They bought a house together in Montoursville, where they lived until 2015, when they moved to The Williamsport Home.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Robert E. Johnson, her son, Andrew G. (Sandy) Spitler, of Florida, grandchildren Michelle (James) Robinson, of Maine, and Suzanne (Bill) Muchow, of Florida, and two greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by two stepchildren, Stephen Johnson, of Florida, and Scott Johnson, of Harrisburg, PA, and their spouses, along with two step-grandchildren and two step-greatgrandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Marcy (Merle) Hill and Terry Carpenter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her first husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her younger sister, Doris (Homer) Dieffenderfer, and her younger son, Ned L. Spitler.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a walk through only viewing will be held Monday, January 25, 2021, 10-11:00 a.m., at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St, Montoursville Pa 17754.
Following Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines, masks and social distancing will be required.
A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Twin Hills Memorial Park, 13332 Lycoming Mall Drive, Muncy Pa.
