Dr. Robert George Little Jr. of Williamsport, adored husband, brother, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 5, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born on August 3, 1929 in Williamsport, the son of Dr. Robert G. Little Sr. and Helen Gertrude (Fessler) Little.
Dr. Little was a graduate of Williamsport High School, Gettysburg College, and Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation from Cornell in 1955, he joined Little’s Veterinary Hospital, the practice founded by his father and grandfather. A third-generation veterinarian, he was joined in the practice by his son in 1991.
Dr. Little served as past president of local and state organizations, including Dunwoody Big Bear, Fish and Game Club, the Williamsport Rotary Club, and the PA Veterinary Medical Association. He was also a member of the PA Veterinary Review Board. Much of his free time was spent enjoying outdoor activities including hunting and fishing, both locally and out West, golfing, tending to his ornamental trees, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing with family and friends. For many years he and his family were members of the First United Methodist Church in Williamsport where he also served on the Board of Trustees.
He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Beverly A. (O’Connell) Little.
He is survived by his wife Rita A. (Albarano) Little, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary L. and John E. Young of Bedford, NH; a son, Dr. Robert G. Little III of Montoursville; a daughter and son-in-law Margaret T. and Charles D. Dangle of Cogan Station; and a sister, Mrs. Beverly Jane (BJ) VanEss of Cogan Station. Other survivors include his cherished grandchildren, Matthew Young, Katherine Dangle and her partner Joshua Simmons, Evan Dangle, Ryan, Sean and Ashley Little, and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
