Frederick K. Ireland, 98, of Fairfield Township, died October 1, 2021 at his residence.
He was born July 4, 1923, in Williamsport, a son of the late Kenneth and Florence (Dangle) Ireland.
Mr. Ireland retired from the former Avco and also farmed in Elimsport. He was a WWII Marine Corps veteran, serving in the South Pacific Theater, amphibious tank Division. He attended Calvary Baptist Church, was a member of High Rock Hunting Club and was the last surviving charter member, and was an avid woodworker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Sara E. Stiger; two sisters, Erma Schleif and Evelyn Shaffer; and two step sons, Dan and Wayne Leet.
Surviving is his wife, the former Carol Jane Moore; two sons, Robert A. (Lou Ann) Ireland and Kenneth F. (Theresa) Ireland; two daughter, Florence M. Ireland and Kathryn I. (David) Wentzler; a step daughter, Tammy Russell; two step daughters-in-law, Jeanne and Sally Leet; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville with Rev. Peter C. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be from 10 – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
