Harold E. Gottshall, Jr., 73, of Montoursville, died on April 20, 2019, at UPMC Williamsport.
He was born April 17, 1946, in Williamsport, a son of the late Harold E. and Alda (Purpari) Gottshall, Sr.
Harold worked as a Pennsylvania State Constable after retiring after 35 years of working as a highway safety specialist for Penn Dot. Before that he worked as a policeman in the Borough of Muncy, and as a guard at the Lycoming County Prison. He was also a member of L.O.O.M. #866, Muncy Valley, the Young Men’s Republican Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #970, and the American Legion Post #40, Danville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, the former Carlotta Lowrey; and his infant son David.
Surviving are his sons, Joseph (Donna Liston) Gottshall, of Maryland, and Jeffrey Gottshall, of California; his daughter, Jennifer (Mikal) Gavitt, of Eagles Mere; his sisters, Donna Ray (Burton) Smith, of Danville, and Peggy Jean (Herb) Betts, of South Carolina; and grandchildren, Josh and Rachel Gavitt.
A viewing for family and friends will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Montoursville Cemetery with Rev. David C. Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montoursville Fire Department, 821 Broad Street, Montoursville.
