James L. Snyder, Sr., 85, of Monongahela, PA, formerly of Williamsport, passed away on October 29, 2021 at North Strabane Rehabilitation and Care Center.
He was born on January 5, 1936 in Sunbury, son of the late Lloyd R. and Erma B. (Trego) Snyder.
James served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired as a Pipefitter from Local 354 Pipefitters Union. He was also a life member of the VFW Post #10094 in Florida.
James was a die-hard Steeler and Penn State Football Fan. He enjoyed working outdoors and making crafts. He spent the last 11 years as the primary caregiver for his beloved wife. He was also a member of the Faith Wesleyan Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Dorothy Raisch, and Betty Rousch.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Thomas) Snyder; son, James L. (Cheryl) Snyder, Jr. of Dunbar, PA; four daughters, Gabrielle (Tony) Mueske of Barnewald, WI, Brenda Grable of Linden, PA, Linda Mavilla of Washington, PA, and Beth Snyder of Sarasota, FL; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville with Rev. Timothy K. Hartzell officiating. A burial at Montoursville Cemetery will follow. Military Honors will be accorded by Lycoming County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a viewing for family and friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
