John R. Chapman, 75, of Williamsport, died August 13, 2021 at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport.
He was born January 13, 1946 in Montoursville, the son of the late Arthur L. and Myrtle (Reeder) Chapman.
John was a Vietnam Army veteran, retired as an over the road truck driver, and had previously worked for Conrail. He enjoyed fishing in both fresh and salt water, clamming and loved hunting. One of his favorite hobbies was woodworking and he had been a Little League baseball and softball coach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, the former Donna L. Fink; a son, John R. (Cynthia) Chapman Jr. of Ridgeland SC; a daughter Pamela D. (Steven) Gallew of Montoursville, three brothers, Bud, James, and Gary Chapman; a sister, Roxanne Gibbs; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A viewing for family and friends will be from 4 – 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.
A life celebration will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Susquehanna State Park, 2235-2293 Hiawatha Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17702. The service will begin at 6 p.m. with Rev. David Hart officiating.
