John J. Delaney

January 21, 1944 ~ December 8, 2020 (age 76)

Pastor John J. “Jack” Delaney, of Huntersville, went Home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 8, 2020.

He was born on January 21, 1944 in Bayonne, N.J., the son of John J. and Julia Delaney.  Jack grew up in Cranford, NJ and told many stories of his fond memories (mostly mischievous ones) of that town and his buddies.

He was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.  Jack enjoyed golfing every opportunity he had.  He was also an avid Notre Dame fan. He loved living in Huntersville where he could usually be found on his tractor, chopping down trees or driving around in his favorite truck.  Jack had many occupations including sales in NYC, a dairy farmer, used car salesman and his favorite by far, a pastor for the past 41 years.  He pastored Bible Baptist Church of Huntersville for several years.  That was followed by a 17-year pastorate of Woodward Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Jack moved back to the area in 2005 where he became a pastor at Lycoming Valley Baptist Church.  He retired from 41 years of ministry in September 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie Robinson.

Surviving is his wife, of 49 years, the former Kristina K. Knittel, two daughters, Colleen Converse and Sarah (Eric) Tuinstra.  He had five grandchildren, Jacqueline, Elise and Carly Converse and Luke and Benjamin Tuinstra, whom he was beyond proud of.  He was also survived by his siblings, Lois Swiderski, Helena Burnette, and William (Linda) Delaney, all of New Jersey.

There will be graveside service Monday, December 14, 2020 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Upper Rynearson Rd., Mill Creek Township, Muncy with Pastor Tim Snyder officiating.

A life celebration will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his church, Lycoming Valley Baptist Church, 4980 Lycoming Mall Drive, Montoursville, PA 17754.

Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
