Marc Brian Cooley

November 23, 1956 ~ August 7, 2020 (age 63)

Marc Brian Cooley, 63, left this earthly life early on the morning of August 7, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center.

Marc had fought a long and brave cancer battle for six years.  His courage and attitude were amazing to all who knew and loved him.

Marc was a 1974 graduate of Williamsport Area High School. He graduated from Mansfield State University in 1978 with an Associate’s Degree in Fish Culture, and in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Environmental Sciences. He retired from the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in 2016.

Marc had many life-long friends who he adored, especially his “BNO” buddies. He was a hard-core fan of the Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers, and he loved his home in Montoursville.  For most of Marc’s life, he was an avid fly fisherman with a particular love for Slate Run.

Marc was predeceased by his father, Lewis E. Cooley in 1977, his mother, Alberta P. Fisher in 2011, and his stepfather, Ray A. Fisher in 2016.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary M. Cooley; their two children, Edmund R. Cooley and Megan E. Cooley; his older brother, Lewis (“Ted”) E. Cooley III (Kim); his older sister, Nancy C. Richey (Tom); as well as his sister-in-law, Ann Fleming, brother-in-law, Robert Fleming, and his nephews and niece.

Marc was a free-spirited soul with an amazing outlook and sense of humor. Family, friends and home were everything to him and he enjoyed life to the fullest. Marc had no pretentions – he was the image of genuinity. Those who knew him will forever look to and learn from the path that he traveled to eternal life. He was truly one of a kind and will be so missed.

A life celebration will be at a later date. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marc’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E 3rd St, Williamsport, PA 17701.
