Marlin D. “Sonny” Hanner, Sr., of Montoursville, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020, at his residence.
He was born on October 6, 1933, in Williamsport, the son of Clarence and Emily (McFadden) Hanner.
He was a Korean War Army veteran, a member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104, Assembly of God Church, Montoursville Lions Club, a boy scout leader at Our Lady of Lourdes Church for many years where he also volunteered, loved golfing and traveling especially to Myrtle Beach, S.C, loved spending time with his family and retired from Construction Specialties.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, the former Louise Schraft; brother, Robert Hanner; step-son, Jim Brooke; and a granddaughter, Maria Katzmaier.
Surviving is his wife of 29 years, the former Patricia D. Brooke; five sons, Marlin D. (Leigh) Hanner Jr., Mark D. Hanner, Martin D. (Gwen) Hanner, Keith L. Hanner, and J. Scott (Crystal) Hanner; one daughter, Tina M. (Bill) Wentzel; step-daughter, Melanie R. Brooke; step-son, Jerry (Brendi) Brooke; 29 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a few great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, 11 a.m., at Assembly of God Church on the corner of Sherman & Sheridan St., Williamsport, with Rev. Darrin L. Mitchley officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery, with military honors accorded by Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County Honor Guard.
A visitation will be held for family and friends at the church from 10-11 a.m.
We will be following all Covid restrictions, social distancing and masks are required.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
