Mary C. Day, 90, of Montoursville, passed away Monday, August 31, 2020, at Manor Care Health Services North.
She was born October 1, 1929, in Montoursville, the daughter of Coleman and Grace (Hill) Gilbert, Mary resided her whole life on Loyalsock Ave.
She married Melvin J. Day, in 1950, and they celebrated their 38 year wedding anniversary before his passing in 1989.
She was an active member in the community during her lifetime, she was involved with the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Business Women and the General John Burrows Historical Society and was a long-time member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Montoursville. She believed in an honest day’s work; she was employed by the former Carey-McFall for over 30 years until she later retired. In her later years, she coordinated and hosted bus trips for local residents.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin Day; two brothers, Bruce and John Gilbert; and a half brother, Earl Hill.
Surviving is her son, Russell (Lynne) Day, of Bloomsburg; three grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2020 at Montoursville Cemetery with Rev. Larry Leland officiating.
