Mary Ellen Rosencrance, 78, of Cogan Station, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, at UPMC Susquehanna. She was born on May 29, 1942, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Atkinson) Muench of Bear Creek, PA.
Mary Ellen graduated from Wilkes College in 1965 with a B.S. in Nursing Education and taught Psychiatric Nursing at Williamsport Hospital School of Nursing for 23 years. After spending several years being a stay-at-home mom, she became the school nurse at St. Anne’s Elementary and later at Schick Elementary in Montoursville.
She was an active member of Agape Fellowship Church. Over the years she served as a small group leader, worship team member, and church administrator. She was a valued spiritual mentor to many friends as well as the on-call advice nurse for her family and friends for both physical and emotional needs. She could always be relied on to lend her support.
Mary Ellen was involved in the community, volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). She also worked as a nurse at Camp Susque and for Little League International. An avid quilter, she gifted personalized quilts to each of her nine grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Daniel Rosencrance, three sisters: Kathleen Everett of Truth or Consequences, NM, Patricia Cope of Warrenton, MO, and Denise Lipman of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ; 4 daughters: Wendy (James) Fraser of York, Caryn Paradis of Chester, CT, Jennifer (Ahmon) Dancy of Antioch, CA, and Rachel (Jason) Howard of Indianapolis, IN; 9 grandchildren: Aidan Fraser, Vivian & Elliott Paradis, Micah & Miles Dancy, and Madeleine, Nathaniel, Oliver & Patrick Howard; and two generations of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for church family will be held on Sunday, April 18 at 6:00 pm. All others are welcome to attend a memorial service on Saturday, March 27 at 1:30 pm at Agape Fellowship, 485 East Third St, Williamsport.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Susque at susque.org/donate.
