Naomi G. Carey died peacefully on May 23, 2020 in Aristacare at Loyalsock Nursing Home; she was 99 years young.
Naomi Grand was born March 16, 1921 in Monument, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Jennie (Murphy) Grand. She always felt close to her Father’s Italian roots and was raised in strong faith. Naomi loved to garden, cook, listen to music, play the piano and swim in local creeks. She had a short career as a beautician prior to getting married and raising six children. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her laugh was infectious. She was of small stature, but her personality and spunk were immeasurable. She once said that the food you put into your body and being with family are things that ensure a long life.
Naomi married Gilbert P. Carey and raised seven children. Victoria (Rick) Hahn of Horsham, Frances Winner of Williamsport, Mark Carey of Williamsport, Michael Carey of Jersey Shore, Brian Carey of Montoursville, Charles Carey of Williamsport, and her beloved Amber Carey of Wilmington, DE.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Angela Smith, Lisa DiMassimo, Jay D Roberts, Krista Green, Kari Fullmer, Kyle Hahn, Barbie Lutz, Christopher Carey, Keegan Carey, Desirea Carey, Brian Carey Jr., and Joshua Carey. Naomi also has twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She is also survived by her siblings Ruth Haldeman, Phebe Manotti, Rhoda Faust, Esther Stoffle and Elisabeth McCauley. She is preceded in death by her brothers Paul and Joseph Grand, Becky Wright, and Sarah McGill.
