Stella L. Bennett, 95, of Montoursville, passed away on July 22, 2021 at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport.
She was born on November 3, 1925, in Turbotville, PA, daughter of Raymond A. and Edith (McCarty) Smith.
Stella retired from Dr. William Gehron’s office as a registered nurse and had previously worked for Divine Providence Hospital. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the Montoursville Garden Club, and Beta Sigma Pi Sorority. She was an avid bridge player and gardener. She also did volunteer work for the Kidney Foundation and the Community Arts Center as an usher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David W.; two brothers, Jessie and Grover Smith; and sister, Faye Leitzel.
She is survived by three sons, Rodney W. Bennett, of Montoursville, Alan D. (Wendy) Bennett, of Butler, PA, Seth B. (Patricia Murray) Bennett, of Reidsville, NC; two grandchildren, Brendan and Austin (Lindsay); and three great-grandchildren, Ava, Jackson and Mackenzie.
There will be a funeral service held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville with Rev. Larry L. LeLand officiating. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701 to the Kidney Foundation.
