William Wade Hughes, 57, of Trout Run, died on February 13, 2021, in Virginia.
He was born on June 8, 1963, in Williamsport, the son of William M. and Clarabel V. (Metzger) Hughes.
Wade worked in carpentry with his Dad and brother, farmed, and raised rodeo bulls and beef cattle. He was a professional bull rider belonging to the APRA and IPRA rodeo associations; became a livestock contractor starting his own rodeo company, Crown H. Livestock and was a founding partner of the United Bull Riders. Wade’s rodeo career took him across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, with some of his most notable productions in Atlantic City, NJ and Charleston, SC. He spent his later years as an independent trucker hauling cattle across the country.
Wade was a cowboy at heart. He defied the odds and was always thinking ahead. He was stubborn and as bull headed as the bulls he rode, but he was usually right. May god bless you on your final ride home.
Surviving in addition to his parents, is a daughter, Kelsey VanFleet, of Albany, NY.; brother, Gregg Hughes, of Williamsport; sister, Diane Pysher, of Cogan Station; and a niece, Kendra Pysher, of Cogan Station.
